New Year brings light of new hopes and aspirations that we try to achieve in a certain period of time. It is a fresh start for many of us during this time of the year. We all have to dos and not to dos list, resolutions and task list to complete before we tune into another new year. Many of us fail and many of succeed. But really does that matter?

I feel it’s definitely good to have set goals, but I also feel one should not really get hard or difficult on oneself. If you are aiming to achieve your goals then try setting realistic goals that are easy to achieve. And for sure don’t expect to build Rome in one day. Since childhood, I have been exposed to many inspirational quotes in form of posters around the house. One of my favorites and something that I still follow, “Small and Consistent Steps Everyday Adds Up To Big Results.”, with a picture of small boy watering a plant that eventually becomes a tree.

For me, the biggest goal to achieve this year is to spread philosophy of Soulful Palate among more people. So as to get more people incorporate plant-based diet into their lifestyle. This is not only good for health but also good for planet overall. For now am in the mood for a drink, so sharing this non-alcoholic and super refreshing beverage. Raising a toast to a better future for one and all!! So cheers to 2019 and hope we all get our ambitions fulfilled.

Chop the watermelon separating the seeds from the chunks. (If watermelon you get is with seeds. There are seedless varieties too.)

    Step 2
    Mark as Complete

In a blending jar, add watermelon chunks and squeeze in lemon juice of a whole lemon. Also add black salt, black pepper powder and smoked cumin powder to it. Blend the watermelon chunks in a blender and if the mixture is too thick for you, then simply filter through the sieve.
(Note: Do not add water to the blended mixture because combining water and watermelon can lead to serious stomach issues. This also includes ice or sparkling water. If you want your drink chilly, then place the watermelon in refrigerator before preparing the drink..)

    Step 3
    Mark as Complete

Blend everything together and if the mixture is too thick for you, then simply filter through the sieve.
(Note: Do not add water to the blended mixture because combining water and watermelon can lead to serious stomach issues. This also includes ice or sparkling water. If you want your drink chilly, then place the watermelon in refrigerator before preparing the drink..)

    Step 4
    Mark as Complete

In a plate, spread some coarse salt and black pepper. Wet the rim of serving glasses with a little water or rub a bit of honey instead. Next, dip the rim of serving glasses into the plate to get the salt and black pepper on the rim of the glasses.

    Step 5
    Mark as Complete

Empty the blended watermelon mixture into the serving glasses and garnish with some lemon wedges or slices. Add mint leaves for freshness and extra health benefits.

Cheers and enjoy this refreshing drink without any guilt. Also, if you looking to detoxify and get that New Year Eve's part hangover ditched out of your system, then without any doubt this drink will be a big favor to yourself.
